If i only work 3 hours on Friday am i supposed to be payed just those 3 hours or the full day (UK)?

It is a UK bank holiday and am unsure whether or not i should be payed the full day...we also dont have contracts so the boss will do his up most to get out of paying what he should! Also do they have to pay us for the Royal Wedding bank hol (the following Friday)
